Common or vernacular plant names are often used by scientists and
lay-people alike. Unlike the scientific or Latin names of plants that are
governed by the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature, no rules exist
for recognizing one accepted common name. This book groups the common names of
plants with their scientific counterparts. At least one (and in some cases as
